DEAR DIDI,

I go to school with a significantly less amount of brown people than my last school. I think the hardest part was getting used to my peers who would use hurtful and overused stereotypes and refer to them as "jokes." Sure, they may be funny the first couple of times, but after constantly hearing these far from true comments about my culture, my patience reaches an all-time low. For example, one of my friends was surprised that I smelled good all the time because apparently, "Indians smell like BO and curry all the time." What irked me behind that comment was the ignorance and repetition of such a microaggression. These beliefs spread among people so rapidly that even standing up to such a joke would be considered acting like a buzzkill of snowflake. Just a thought/rant. Glad I could vent to you :)

We’d love to start a conversation in the comments with anyone who has also felt this way and has anything helpful to offer or would love to highlight their own similar experience!! Didi absolutely can relate ❤️

Love always,

Didi
